Dental Care at a Reduced Cost
Adults 72 years or older are eligible for free dental treatments or for a reduced copayment.
This covers preventive and conservative dental treatments, as well as some restorative treatments. Dental care is covered by the healthcare basket through the HMOs. Some of the treatments are given without a deductible and others have a maximum deductible.
Free dental care for adults 72 years and older
- Periodic dental exams, once a year
- Routine checkups and monitoring
- Two bitewing X-rays as part of the periodic dental exam
- Tartar buildup removal, once every six months
Dental treatments at a discount
- Preservative and preventive dental treatments such as first aid, extraction, surgical extraction and more.
- Restorative dental treatments (prosthetic) such as prostheses, crowns and more.
How to get dental care at a discount or for free
Dental care is provided by the insuring HMO in the following ways:
- HMO dental clinics
- Community dental clinics that are HMO preferred providers
- Non-preferred clinics or hospitals, if an HMO referral and prior authorization (so-called form 17) is presented
No reimbursement for private health care.

Not all oral restoration treatments are covered by the healthcare basket. The HMO will collect the payment for such treatments.
If you have been offered an expensive treatment not covered by the healthcare basket, check to see whether there is a comparable treatment that is covered.
