Disabled Parking Tag
A disabled parking tag is a hard plastic card that lets a disabled person park their car in disabled parking spots or places where parking isn't allowed, as long as they don't get in the way of traffic or walkers, for example.
A disabled parking tag can only be used by the person who has a disability and only when that person is driving or in a car with someone else, according to the Disabled Parking Law (Hebrew). One parking tag can be used for two cars that are used to move the disabled person, even if the disabled person does not own either of the cars.
For disabled parking, there are a few different kinds of tags:
- A regular disabled tag featuring a green triangle
- A tag with a person on a wheelchair featuring a blue rectangle
- A Ministry of Defense regular tag featuring a green triangle and an anemone
- A Ministry of Defense tag featuring a person in a wheelchair along with a blue rectangle and an anemone
NOTE
NOTE
Any wrong use of a parking tag, like when the disabled person is not in the car, is illegal and could lead to the disabled person's tag being taken away. On the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety page, you can find out about who is eligible (Hebrew) and how to use the tag properly.
How people with mental health conditions can apply
If you or your child has a mental health disability of 60% or more and a doctor has advised you that driving will help you protect your health and prevent it from getting worse, you may be qualified for a disabled parking tag for your car under the Disabled Parking Law.
It is important to know that you can apply for a tag even if you don't get disability benefit. You will also need to show proof from your doctor that you need a personal vehicle for your daily activities.
People with mental health conditions are given a tag that doesn't depict a wheelchair. That is, you can't drive on public transit routes if you have the tag; you can only drive on normal lanes. However, you can park in disabled parking spots.
