Safety
At this stage, your baby already knows how to roll over and sit up and may even begin to try crawling and sitting up. You can encourage babies to crawl and sit but before that, make sure that the environment is safe and free of obstacles, particularly to prevent falls.
If babies do not yet sit on their own - you can sit them up temporarily to feed and play with them for short periods of time, with support and supervision, or in a hi-chair suitable for babies.
At the age of six months, you should begin introducing your baby to solid food. When feeding, it is important that your baby sits upright to prevent choking. At this stage, babies are naturally curious and will try to put everything in their mouth. This is their way of exploring the world. They can be allowed to experiment, but you must keep them safe constantly by closely supervising them and preventing them from putting small coin-sized objects in their mouths.
Around this age, as they try to stand, babies often hold on to the furniture in the house, so it is important to make sure in advance that dressers and cabinets are securely attached to the walls. Keep medicines, pesticides and cleaning agents in cabinets that are out of reach and locked to prevent the baby from reaching them.
