Nutrition
From the age of 9 months, depending on how ready the infant is, you can start offering “finger food” – soft food or small pieces that may be held in the fingertips and put into the mouth unassisted. It is recommended to let the infant try eating unassisted, sense the food, try holding it and putting it into the mouth, and getting dirty is fine too, even important. Make sure the nutrition is balanced and diversified, based on fresh, raw and unprocessed foods.
It is important to form a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere during a meal, not to force the child to taste or eat anything but trust the child's hunger and satiety mechanism and his or her intuitions and personal tastes. By respecting the child's needs and wishes, you will help him or her develop positive feelings towards being seated at the table and towards eating healthy food, and this is of tremendous importance for later in life.
