If you have reached retirement age, you live at home and you need assistance in performing daily life activities or supervision, you may be entitled to long-term care benefits from the National Insurance Institute.
Long-term care benefits are are categorized into six different levels. The level is established based on functioning abilities and verified by a representative of the National Insurance Institute. At any level, care benefits and financial benefits can be combined, including:
- In-person nursing care at home (provided by a firm or a foreign caregiver)
- Attending a day-care center
- Adult diapers
- Distress call transmitter
- Laundry services
Requirements to qualify for long-term care benefits
- Living at home, in the community; not in a nursing home
- Functional disability
- Needing assistance from someone else to carry out daily tasks including eating, dressing, using the restroom, moving around the house, etc.
- Needing home monitoring to ensure your safety or the safety of others
