Safety
At this stage, babies will eat in an upright position, occasionally with support, and will try to eat on their own, which requires close supervision over everything, including type of food, texture (crushed or ground) and manner of serving.
Babies at this stage experience motor development, and transition to crawling, sitting and even standing. This is the time to encourage independent standing, even walking (with support). For this purpose, it is important to keep the environment free of obstacles that can cause them to fall or injure them. At this age, they are capable of grasping objects with their hands (pinching). For this reason, the medicine cabinet and pesticides must be kept out of reach.
When driving, install the baby’s car seat rear-facing (until the age of two), and it is important to establish correct safety habits from the very first drive. Safety habits are no less important at bath time. Always be near and watch over the baby, at any given moment and without distractions, even if the baby already knows how to sit in the bath.
